What do you need to make Turkish Bulgur Salad (Kısır)?

All you need is a few simple ingredients, you can add fresh parsley, basil and more herbs you like.

Medium bulgur, tomato paste, garlic, spring onions, cucumber, tomato, olive oil, lettuce, chili flakes, mint, salt and pepper.

How to make the recipe?

Place a strainer over a medium bowl and add the bulgur.Then pour hot water over it (2- 3 cups enough). Cover and let it sit for 5-7 minutes, until the bulgur is tender. Once the bulgur has absorbed the water and let it cool to room temperature. Meanwhile in a medium skillet heat olive oil and tomato paste and cook 3 minutes.

In a large bowl mix bulgur with tomato paste sauce. Add some salt and spices. Combine vegetables and herbs. Add lemon juice, and check the salt and spices add if you want more hot.

A vegan delight Turkish Bulgur Salad- Kısır; it's a very easy recipe for picnics, lunch boxes and jars.

  • 1 cup Medium Bulgur

  • 2Tbsp. Tomato Paste
  • 1/4cup Olive Oil
  • 1 Garlic Clove, minced
  • 1 Tomato, chopped
  • 1cup Spring Onions, chopped
  • 1cup Lettuce, chopped
  • 1/2 Cucumber, chopped
  • 1/4tsp. Chili Flakes
  • 1/4tsp. Dry Mint, or 4 leaves fresh mint
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
