Here is the easiest baklava recipe; Crinkle baklava!

Baklava, the iconic dessert of both Turkish and Greek cuisines, has sparked a delightful culinary rivalry. Interestingly, the term “baklava” signifies the dessert’s characteristic shape. While it’s been a subject of debate over who truly owns the recipe, one thing is clear: baklava is a beloved dessert worldwide. The main distinction between Greek and Turkish baklava lies in the choice of nuts, with walnuts being favored in Greek baklava and pistachios in the Turkish version.

What is the traditional baklava made of?

Traditional Turkish baklava boasts layers of delicate phyllo dough, rich butter, flavorful pistachios, and a sweet sorbet. My mother, on the other hand, used to make it with walnuts when holidays.I remember from my childhood. We can say in the Turkish Baklava stores and the baklava chefs make with pistachio. But at home we make with walnut, or mixed walnut and pistachios to make it cheaper.

What do you need for Crinkle Baklava recipe?

For this easy recipe, you all need, butter, phyllo dough, pistachio, sugar and water.

First start with making the sorbet and cool it. The sorbet must be cool, the baklava must me hot.

Now, I’ve taken the classic recipe and given it a quick and easy twist. You no longer need to meticulously grease every single layer. The result? It’s just as crispy and delicious as the traditional version, but it saves you time and effort.

How to make Crinkle Baklava?

Chop the pistachios as big you want. You don’t need to dust them.

Use 2 phyllo dough while making crinkles.  Grease the dough, brush the butter inside the crinkles.

Add pistachios. Bake the baklava dough until become golden brown and add the cooled sorbet immediately.

Rest to drain the sorbet almost 1 hour. Serve with more pistachio and vanilla ice-cream.

How to store it ?

I don’t recommend store this recipe. Eat up as fast as you can. Cause the phyllo dough can lose the crispiness so easily. But you can keep in room temperature 2 days.

I hope you make and enjoy this easy peacy crinkle baklava recipe. Afiyet olsun!
