I’m Berrak. I’m not a professional chef or writer—just a food photographer who loves collecting recipes. I was born and raised in the lively Mediterranean city of Istanbul, where I was fortunate to discover the rich Anatolian and Mediterranean cuisine, thanks to my grandma’s amazing cooking. My mom inherited her recipes, and now it’s my turn to gather, cook, and share these dishes.
Growing up, we made everything from scratch, which made our meals healthy and delicious. My mom didn’t like using pre-made convenience foods, so I learned to prepare homemade Mediterranean recipes with fresh ingredients. I started cooking every day when I went to college. My friends loved my food, especially the ones inspired by my mom’s recipes. I felt like I had to do something more with these recipes, but I wasn’t sure what.
After finishing college, I got into food photography. While I explored many different cuisines in this job, I never stopped thinking about my mom’s and grandma’s kitchen. I felt the need to collect and improve these recipes, which led to the creation of this blog. Here, you’ll find a variety of vegetarian Turkish recipes and healthy Mediterranean recipes that are easy to make at home.
This year, we reshaped our lives and moved to Portugal. Today, our home is filled with the flavors of the Mediterranean, from Turkey to Portugal. Olives, oranges, tomatoes, dolmas, böreks, mezzes and bacalhaus…… I hope you enjoy these Mediterranean recipes as much as I do.
